Congratulations!
Congratulations on your new family member! Now that you have taken your new pet home we have some recommendations to keep the whole family healthy and happy.
BRINGING THEM HOME
The first few days can be very stressful for a new pet, so please, give them a week- to a month to completely adjust to their new surroundings.
FOOD
The diet of your pet is very important to its health and wellbeing. Keeping your pet on a feeding schedule is recommended. Some food brands we recommend from the BX/PX and commissary include:

• Science diet
• Nature’s Balance
• Purina One (cat food)
• Purina Friskies (cat wet food)
TRAINING
It may take some time for your pet to get used to its new environment and rules. Be patient and consistent. Positive reinforcement, treats, a spray bottle, a firm voice, and extra love are great tools for helping your pet understand some new rules.
MEDICAL CARE
It is highly recommended keeping your pet up to date on vaccines and Heart-worm prevention. If your pet is not already spayed or neutered, we ask that you do so within the next 6 months to prevent any accidental litters, potentially help with undesirable behaviors, as well as aiding in your animal's overall health.
All documents will need to be changed to your name. Take any medical records Homeward Bound Osan gives to you at adoption to your veterinarian to transfer records to your name; this includes, but is not limited to, rabies certificate, vaccination records, and microchip information.
Different bases require different medical care for your animals; please check with your local Veterinary Treatment Facility about their regulations.
Again, congratulations, and thank you for choosing to adopt and rescue with Homeward Bound Osan. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via phone, email, or Facebook message.
